Very sadly one of TASTE's founding members Nick Love passed away in May at his home. Nick did an incredible amount of great work for tourism in SE Cornwall both in his beloved business 'Trawlers on the Quay' with partner Mark Napper and for numerous tourism associations most notably with SECTA for many years.

In his honour and memory we held a 'Night of Love' at Trawlers on the Quay on Monday November 7th with the profits of over £900 going to set up the 'Nick Love Foundation'. Each year we will give an award in his name to the most promising youngster from our one of our membership businesses. Watch this space for further details on the award.

Monday November 7th onwards - Professional MasterChef - BBC2 - 8.30pm - Follow Benjamin Palmer, Executive Chef, Barclay House as he battles it out against other top chefs!!! Call 01503 262929 for details.

From Tuesday 8th November..TASTE members are getting involved in this year’s award winning Munchtime Express.  For those not in the know, local restaurants join the lunchtime train from Looe to Liskeard, return, to feed the passengers with tasty nibbles to showcase their restaurants every Tuesday in November.  Trawler’s take the lead on the 8th, The Plough at Duloe follow on the 15th, Barclay House take their turn on the 22nd and finally, Looe’s fab Thai, Ocean and Earth, bring up the rear on the 29th.  So for just the price of a return ticket, £3.70, or GroupSave (4 people travel for the price of 2 adults), you can enjoy local scenery on one of the most beautiful branch lines in the UK with some fabulous – and free – dishes. To make sure you get a place on the next  Munchtime Express, book your seat by calling 01752 233 094 or email railpart@plymouth.ac.uk.  The train leaves Looe at 12.46 and returns at 13.50.

Sam conquers nerves to impress judges in three way cook-off, students from three South East Cornwall schools took part in a cook-off for the title of Taste South East Cornwall Young Chef of the Year 2009 sponsored by Caradon District Council.
Sam Parry, aged 15 of Liskeard School narrowly defeated Gabriella Lake, aged 16 of Looe School and Tom Sainsbury, aged 14 of Saltash School. The competition was held at Trelaske Hotel (by kind permission of residents proprietors Hazel Billington and Ross Lewin) and was judged by Nick Barclay, Richard McGeown from Couch's in Polperro, Chef Ross Lewin of Trelaske Hotel and Carol Trewin of the Western Morning News.
Nick Barclay said “at the end of the day they were all winners, I was amazed at how calm and confident they all were.” Richard McGeown added “I was impressed by the light modern style of their menus, this is the approach being taken by restaurants and TV chefs” Sam’s winning two course menu was Risotto with baked smoked haddock and Lemon posset with rhubarb compote
